“Body Parts” is not an episode that really sticks with me. I don’t dislike it. But it doesn’t do much. I guess it sets up Quark’s place on the station in terms of relationships instead of business. But honestly, that’s about it. ( I don't want you to kill Brunt, I want you to kill me. )

“The Quickening” is one of my favorite Julian episodes. We get all the obsession and genetically enhanced genius of when he was trying to break the Jem’Hadar of their White addiction, plus sympathetic victims and a post-apocalyptic world. ( 'Trevean was right. There is no cure. The Dominion made sure of that. But I was so arrogant, I thought I could find one in a week!'

I groaned when I saw that “The Muse” was up next. But then Mr. b, the writer, told me to shut up and that it’s one of his favorites. So I watched it with a new perspective this time and I can both see why I was underwhelmed initially and why a professional creative would really like it. ( The dialogue is sharp, the story's involving, the characters are real... the spelling is terrible! )

It’s hard to remember that “Rules of Engagement” is a Klingon episode since there really isn’t much battle. But I do love the Klingon lawyer. ( The truth must be won. I'll see you on the battlefield. )

I’m glad to get to see Worf’s brother Kurn again in “Sons of Mogh”. It’s nice to tie up a loose thread that TNG left hanging. ( Please report to airlock five, Commander. There's an intoxicated Klingon here who's demanding to see you. )

I’ve fallen behind on writing up episodes. I think part of it is because I’m having a hard time deciding what I think of “Crossfire”. It’s extraordinarily well acted on the part of Rene Auberjonois. He acts out Odo’s heartache in such an amazing fashion. And it’s an important process for him to go through. But it’s also almost too careful of a ( Read more... )

I’m not entirely sure I can talk about “Homefront” and “Paradise Lost” as two separate episodes. It’s a pretty seamless transition from one half of the story to the other. I like the exploration of paranoia and trust in both of them and that Sisko and his father have somewhat opposing viewpoints throughout.

Part I ( Our gods are dead. Ancient Klingon warriors slew them a millenia ago. They were more trouble than they were worth. )

To everyone that ever complains about Ferengi episodes, I sure hope that you all make an exception for “Little Green Men”. Because this one rules. ( I know everything about you people... baseball, root beer, darts... atom bombs. )

It’s getting to the point where I can no longer exclaim, “I can’t believe this one is so soon!” Because really, we’re approaching the halfway mark. But seriously, I can’t believe that “Indiscretion” is the one where we get Ziyal. I really thought that was later. ( 'Invigorating, isn't it? A bit sunny, perhaps, but this heat feels wonderful!'

“The Visitor” is Deep Space Nine’s “The Inner Light”. I don’t think it’s quite as perfect as the TNG tearjerker, but that’s like saying a waterfall isn’t quite as perfect as a redwood forest.
